old toysI watched Toy Story 3 recently, and it got me thinking about all the stuff I used to play with back in the day.  I miss my old Creepy Crawler Workshop, and my gymnastics Barbie with the hinged knees and elbows.  Did any of you actually act out games with your Barbie dolls?  Because all I remember is getting them dressed in various getups, and then switching them all to a new clothing theme until I got sick of those tiny little snaps.  And when my sister got a manicure/makeup kit for her birthday, we spent a lot of time trying out the nail dryer that came along with it.  I’m not sure that it actually made a difference.

Anyways, as a result of my reminiscing, I now present to you the top 5 best-dressed toys of all time (so far) list.

5. Paddington Bear.  He’s got the toggle coat, the floppy hat, the rainboots – he’s ready to go.

4. Sock monkey.  When you think about it, all anyone really needs is a pompom hat and a couple of red bracelets anyway.

3. Jessie from Toy story.  You just can’t beat those cow print pants.

2. Matryoshka dolls.  AKA Russian nesting dolls.  You know the ones with a littler one inside, and a littler one inside that, and a little one inside that, and a littler one inside that…  Well, they always wear the most gorgeously painted outfits, lots of flowers and swirls and cute little kerchiefs and aprons.  I wish people still dressed that way.

1. Samantha, the American Girl doll.  Personally, I prefer my Kirsten, but you have to admit, Samantha has style. She wears taffeta and velvet like they’re jeans and a t-shirt.  She totally rocks the puffy sleeves look, her high-buttoned boots are amazing, and don’t get me started on her winter cape and fur muff.
