I wish it would cool off enough for the leaves to turn already.  Honestly, in spite of the end of summer vacation, this is my favorite time of year.  There’s lots going on, the apples are about ready for picking, and the weather (eventually) cools off.  It’s nice when you’re not sweating it up every single time you walk out the door.  Today is actually on the cool side, but Hurricane Earl is blowing up the east coast, which has a lot to do with it.  Frankly, I could go for some gale-force winds.

I hope you’re all putting away your white shoes after this weekend!  Well, actually, that rule is pretty much a joke these days; do you know anyone who enforces it?  I looked it up, and the “no white after Labor Day” thing doesn’t seem to have much of a reason behind it.  It’s just a reminder that colder weather is approaching, so you should adjust your wardrobe appropriately.  In case you couldn’t figure it out on your own, don’t wear a bikini in December either.  Unless you’re on break in Bora Bora or something.  Seriously, the no white rule seems to have been a way for higher-class ladies to teach the nouveau-riche about clothing etiquette – I guess they thought they’d be too dumb to get something like “don’t wear white when it’s cold out and you’ll get your shoes muddy.”

In honor of the season, here’s a selection of our most autumnal favorites – including one  in “winter white” (also known as “cream”), which is, of course, totally appropriate.

1. A leafy brown and orange wide headband.

2. A maroon shawl is perfect for when there’s just a bit of a chill.

3. A pretied bandana with a brown feather accent.

4. An olive green paisley tichel with a hint of sparkle.

5. Our new kelly green zipper headband.

6. An elegant gold belt that will go with anything.

7. For the little ones, a yellow crocheted hat with an orange flower – but you can add any color you like with the new design-your-own tool.

8. And, last but not least, a winter white suede headband.  Who doesn’t love suede?
