Are You Drinking Enough?
by aviva
Water is your hair’s best friend. Seriously, think about it.
You wash your hair with water. You wet it in order to cut or style it. And drinking enough water helps keep your hair healthy. In the heat of summer, there are plenty of reasons to make sure that you stay hydrated!
I’m one of those people who needs to be reminded to drink. I keep a stainless-steel water bottle on my desk at work, and one on my nightstand at home, and I take my home-bottle most of the time when I leave the house. I got my husband bottles for his desk and backpack, and recently bought a really cute yellow one for my daughter, who loves to drink from mine. But even with all these convenient reminders, I should still be drinking more.
Mayoclinic.com has an interesting article on how much liquid people should drink a day. The usual recommendation is 8 8-ounce glasses. This number originates from the fact that adults lose and average of 1.5 liters per day in urine, and another half-liter in sweat, tears, and other fluid loss. That means you have to put about 2 liters (which is about 8 cups) of fluid (not specifically water!) back into your body.
For yourself, just try to keep from getting really thirsty. What tricks do you have to help you remember to drink? I have my funky bottles (which amuse me in general, and are practically accessories), but I’m always up for new advice.
