How to Accessorize in 30 Seconds or Less
by aviva
We all miss the alarm sometimes and wake up with ten minutes to get dressed and out the door. When you’re in a desperate rush, you usually have to abbreviate your
routine, which can lead to a blah appearance for the rest of the day. But just because your hair is wet or your makeup is half done or your shoes are mismatched
doesn’t mean that you can’t look good. Here are some quick ways to add a little zest to your outfit, even on your busiest mornings.
- Pick your shoes/bag/belt/hair covering in noticeably different color than the rest of your outfit – like a lime green headband with a denim skirt and black shirt.
- Do you wear glasses? Take advantage of the funky styles that are popular now, and have something cool to wear every day.
- Throw a patterned scarf or shawl over a dress – an orange summer flower tichel will look as good around your neck or on your shoulders as it will on your head.
- Keep a stash of patterned or colorful stockings to liven up your legs.
- A jeweled ponytail holder will add some sparkle to even the dullest outfit – then, even if you’re too rushed to blow dry, your hair will still look good!
JUST ADDED!
….and if your hair is dirty, which mine is if I don’t wash it every single day, you can always throw on a hat or one of the wide headbands!
I love the idea of throwing a scarf on for a new look!
Wish I would have thought about these ideas in High School. Many “quick ponytails” due to sleeping in.
#5 is my usual step to take, then I’m “good to go”
I love headbands. I have a bright yellow one that I wear all the time. The contrast will my brown hair is great!
I retweeted this blog post.
Love the tip of choosing different colors than what you are wearing! Also, I love jeweled ponytail holders!!
This was informative, I’ll have to try a couple of these.
Thanks for the great tips Perfect for when I am running out the door
I love #5 I do that one ALL the time! I also make sure to keep an extra hair accessory in my arm-candy all the time too!
I love wearing my bandanas even though I’m not required to cover my hair because it adds that little something to my wardrobe and I don’t need to worry about styling my hair. I normally don’t wear anything accessory wise other than my watch, so a little color in my hair goes a long way!
I would love tips for my hair! I can never make it look good LOL. I hate clips and i always use a scrunchie! Would love to try some headbands! Im learning some great tips from your site!
i’ll try your advice
I carry a red handbag regularly, and many times toss a contrasting bandana on my head. Love them!
Lots of great tips!!! I am always in a hurry and these tips come in handy!!!!
I’d like to win.
Pony tails or a quick french twist is always a good choice too!

You make it sound so simple. In the past, I was never one to worry much about how I looked. Then, I started feeling frumpy. Your great, colorful, suggestions would surely enhance my appearance.

I love headbands.
I like to have a neutral jeweled barrette to wear when I am taking a day off of washing my hair. It gives me a bit of sparkle. Thanks for your tips! @Lunachique on Twitter!
thank goodness for teichels & snoods

I use the wide headband whenever I am late for work, covers up any bad hair days without being considered a hat (not allowed)
I am a huge fan of pony tails and it is my go-to hair style when I am in a hurry.
Throw on big earring and a long chain necklace
A friend recently mentioned that she has a whole variety of scarves and shawls because they always make her look put together. Now I’m dying to try that out. Of course, it’s been in the 90s lately, so I’m afraid it’s too hot for either one.
I love a headband
colorful bobby pins can be a life saver. I like to paint mine with nail polish for extra charm.
love the tips!! i plan on using them this summer.
Thanks! I esp like the scarf ones. So much you can do with those..
sounds really creative!
winning would be awesome, but I’ll still order lots!
I love bandanas too

I love my scarves.
I like to throw on the thick, hard headbands but they hurt my head later.
When I am in a SUPER hurry, I give myself a ponytail, wrap it into a bun and secure it all with a beaded bun over. Looks classy and no one knows my hair is a mess under the bun cover. LOL.
I considered wearing a turquoise headband with a black and white outfit on shabbos but chickened out. it’s nice to get the positive reinforcement.
Love the pony holders in the picture! Especially the fluffy pink one!
I like the suggestion #1 -Pick your shoes/bag/belt/hair covering in noticeably different color than the rest of your outfit – I tend to do too much matchy-matchy of the same colors. So, suggesting different colors for accessories is something I need to start doing!
in 30 seconds… if ur hair is oily throw some baby powder in it. side part low pony tail. and dark mascarra
big jewelry is always a distraction. Funky hats or scarves are great too.
i like to match my head covering with my outfit! I like to be matchy-matchy.
as always love the ideas given!
I love the idea of using the scarf as an accessory not only for the hair, but for a wrap, or neck scarf. Many uses, one product. Thrifty, too!
I wear head scarves =)
Gonna retweet your post!
